Hands Held High – by Bayu Indra

Gw lagi dengerin  Mike Shinoda nyanyi Hands Held High
dg setting repeat one ….

sedih banget ini lagu, ngerap tapi menyayat2 hati…
mo nangis dengernya…
inget segala macam perang, kepentingan orang2 brengsek yg mengorbankan
sebagian besar orang2 gak punya,

hidup wajar.

musik mestinya gak pernah diperlakukan sebagai musik saja.
musik itu kitab suci, hidup itu sendiri.
mestinya kita mendengarkannya,
mencerna dan menafsirkannya dengan baik.
untuk kebaikan diri sendiri, dan dunia.

musik mestinya…

with hands held high into a sky so blue
as ocean opens up to swallow you….

Amiiiiin…

Linkin Park : Hands Held High….

Turn my mic up louder,
I got to say somethin.
Lightweights steppin’ aside,
when we comin.
Feel it in your chest,
the syllables get pumpin.
People on the street,
they panic and start running.
Words on loose leaf,
sheet complete coming.
I jump on my mind,
I summon the rhyme of dumping.
Feeling the blind,
I promise to let the sun in.
Sick of the dark ways,
we march to the drumming.
Jump when they tell us
they want to see jumping.
Fuck that, I want to
see some fist pumping.
Risk something.
Take back what’s yours
Say something that you know
they might attack you for
cause I’m sick of being treated
like I have before.
Like it;s stupid standing for
what I’m standing for.
Like this war is really just
a different brand of war.
Like it doesn’t cater to the rich
and an abandoned the poor.
Like they understand you
in the back of the jet,
When you can’t put gas in your tank.
These fuckers are laughing their way
to the bank and cashing their cheque
asking you to have compassion and to have some respect.

For a leader so nervous
in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling
for nightly news to replay
and the rest of the world
watching at the end of the day
in the living room laughing
like “what did he say?”

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen

In my living room watching,
But I am not laughing.
‘Cause when it gets tense,
I know what might happen.
The world is cold,
The bold men take action.
Have to react,
To getting blown into fractions.

10 years old is something to see,
Another kid my age dragged under a jeep,
Taken and bound and found later under a tree,
I wonder if he even thought the next one could be me.
Do you see?
The soldiers that are out today.
That brush the dust with bulletproof vests away.
It’s ironic.
At times like this you pray,
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday.
There’s bombs in the buses, bikes, roads,
inside your markets, your shops, your clothes,
My dad, he’s got a lot of fear I know
but enough pride inside not to let that show.
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine.
In the back he hand wrote a quote inside,
“when the rich wage war, it’s the poor who die.”

Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling
for nightly news to replay
and the rest of the world
watching at the end of the day
both scared and angry
like “what did he say?”

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.

Kaset Led Zeppelin 2

May 30, 2007

Mengapa? Karena di milis i-Rock! sedang dibahas seru tentang grup ini melalui tret “Classic Rock and Progrock for you?”.

Aduuhhh .. nikmat …. Apalagi pas lagu THE LEMON SONG .. .bassnya asik banget cing!

Daftar Lagu:

Side A: LedZepelin II (P) Oct 1969

1. Whole Lotta Love

Kontroversi Disko vs ProgMet

by: Husni Pohan

diwujudkan via track 5, Disco Queen. Mohon maaf kalau sedikit

gembira, ditambah suara banjo disana sini. Untuk menggambarkan
keterkaitan track title dengan isi.

Track#5 Disco Queen (08:22) ****
keseluruhan , baik dr perubahan beat, panjang track, masih sangat
“ngeprog”, dan justru mungkin salah satu track andalan PoS. Kesan

Track#6 Kingdom of Loss (06:41) *****
menggugah.

Track#7 Mrs. Modern Mother Marry (04:14) ***

sebelumnya.

Track#9 Flame to the Moth (5:58) *****
entah kenapa mendengar gildenlow berekspresi gw selalu teringat peter
gabriel, mungkin kalau peter gabriel memulai karirnya di tahun 90’an,
maka doi bisa jadi menjadi salah satu pentolan progmet.

Track#10 Enter Rain (10:03)

membuat album bagus.

MARILLION “Drilling Holes”

May 29, 2007

Di posting di m-claro 20 Oct 05

Duh Gusti ya Rabbi … beberapa hari ini daku mafhum dengan keindahan nada dan komposisi dari lagu “Drilling Hole” dari Marillion album “marbles” ….Tercabik abislah atiku dipenggal ama perpaduan harmonis jemari tangan Mark kelly, sentuhan halus gitar Steve Rothery dan bunyi efek dan soundscape, dentuman mendayu bass gitar Pete Trewavas nan lincah, olah vokal Hogarth yang berombak mendayu pilu dan sentuhan variatif drum Ian Mosley ….

http://img3.nnm.ru/imagez/gallery/8/0/2/2/5/80225aed04c9dc09f27bf6470ea1a39c_full.jpg

A man came to drill holes in the afternoon
And by the evening
Most of the afternoon had gone
I seem to have slept through the morning
But in the afternoon
A morning is yet to come
A girl came to help out in the kitchen
And by the evening
We found we were all washed up

We ate on the lawn
With the insects
We burned incense
Most of the band turned up
…….
It was just one of those days
When the mind strays
One of those days
When everyone plays
One of those days
When everyone stays
And all of the dreaming goes on

Ditengah liukan bunyi elektronik dan olah vokal bernada upbeat dan terkadang terkesan tak terstruktur tapi tetap indah, tiba-tiba; ujug-ujug mak gedandut … bunyi clavinet Mark Kelly menyeruak sangar mengisi jeda musik dan vokal
menimpali diantara bebunyian clavinet lincah. Duh …. Nikmat sekali bagian transisi ini …

We ordered extra tea
Listened to XTC
Under a shady tree
Went back to bed at three
It was cool
As can be
(two sugars for me..)

Aduh tuoobbbzzz… puwassszzzzzz.

“Don’t Heart Yourself”, “Neverland”, “Invisible Man” juga asik lho ..

MELAMBUNG ………

Bagi yang suka ZEKE AND THE POPO, pasti BLENG dengan lagu ini!!!

Pssstttt … elo semua pada diem! Di headphone Sennheiser gw lagi mengalun piano ngambang dan nada panjang keyboard mengawali NEVERLAND nih …. MELAMBUNG SUGEMBLUNG pol lah …..

Salam,
G

Where is my ‘Mechanical Bride’, Mr. Hackett?

I got the Special Edition CD of this album quite late, after hearing all good words and reviews about this new album by Steve Hackett. My expectation was very high because I thought this must be better than “To Watch The Storm”. The CD arrived with Porcupine Tree’s “Fear of A Blank Planet” which I prioritized to be listened to first prior to “Wild Orchids”. It’s probably two factors that finally conclude me that “Wild Orchids” as just “good” album and nothing more. First, I enjoyed “Fear of A Blank Planet” first, which musically is very superb and masterpiece; each track is a wonderful one and I have no major complaint with it. After enjoying this Porcupine Tree new album and then enjoying Steve Hackett’s “Wild Orchids” I experienced great gap, emotionally. “Wild Orchids” failed to exceed my satisfaction even though it’s not bad at all. Second, my expectation about “Wild Orchids” was very high way before I clicked my order of this album. I suddenly compare this album with “To Watch The Storm” and I cannot find the song that is at par excellent as “Mechanical Bride”. So, where is my Mechanical Bride, Mr. Stephen Hackett?

Why Liking This Album

Pretty straight to the point: because you have been familiar with any of Steve Hackett’s music which I believe has been quite consistent. Well, I might say that since “The Dark Town” album he has explored further his musical boundaries with sort of avant-garde endeavor. I enjoy The Dark Town album, really. As I mention quite often in my reviews about Hackett’s albums, he is not a good singer, actually, but for some reason he can adjust his “mundane” (even bad – excuse me!) voice with his music style. In a nutshell, I can say that he approaches his music in a way that at the end would accommodate his “so and so” voice quality. I don’t know why for this album, I cannot ( or fail to) identify the beauty of his voice merging beautifully with the music. It might be I’m quite bored with his singing style. But this does not apply in specific terms. For example, I do enjoy “A Girl Called Linda” very much even though his singing quality is mundane.

For those of you who enjoy “Dark Town”, you might be very satisfied with the opening track “Transylvanian Express” (3:44). In my humblest opinion, this instrumental opening track is superb and it’s the best track from this album. This is actually the instrumental version of track no. 16 “A Dark Night in A Toy Town” which can also be enjoyed by those who purchase the standard CD version. Oh my God … this is really a masterpiece and well-crafted composition! In fact, I played this song in a local FM radio program “Saturday Night Rock” at Trijaya Network, broadcasted all over the nation. I was quite proud putting this track in my play list.

For those of you who like something explorative in nature, “Waters Of The Wild” (5:35) is an interesting track with the middle east influenced style. “Down Street” also has good musical exploration at the ending part, even though the intro is quite awkward. I do enjoy “A Girl Called Linda” (4:44) especially in the music style which resembles the memory of old days with excellent interlude of flute and jazzy rhythm section. Through this album, Steve Hackett also demonstrates his love of blues through “Blue Child” (4:25) – which is not bad at all.

Why Not Liking This Album?

You might find that the opening track “Transylvanian Express” is a beautifully crafted music combining excellent orchestration and a bit of avant-garde style. But .. unfortunately this is not continued seamlessly with another upbeat tempo track and sounds like disjointed. This is only one example. Another thing is that the fact that this album offers various music styles, the whole album seems like not in a cohesive whole. It’s not a big problem, actually, but it’s a bit bothering to my ears, really. In a way, I love blues music but if I listen to it in the middle of my prog mode being switched “on” I got trouble digesting the music.

Conclusion

Having said so, I considered this album is good and actually can be excellent if some other things included: more prog, more coherent setlist, more upbeat music. But, because I’m a fan of Steve Hackett, I will still keep this CD to complete my collection. Keep on proggin’ ..!

Peace on earth and mercy mild – GW
